15 Months Check Up

OK so I am a little late but like I always say better late than never, right? Anyway our little (OK huge) man is almost 16 months and boy is he busy! He is at such an exciting age, he is saying a ton of words (of course my favorite is MAMA) and is definitely more interactive not just with us but also with his surroundings. His favorite thing to do is annoy his sister in anyway possible which means anything from taking her food (more on this later) to just plain old tackling her. He has many new nicknames this month which include, Buster- because he is always running and doesn't have time to look at his surroundings so each day is a new bruise, and my personal favorite Dirty Old Man- because of his laugh which sounds just like a dirty old man laugh but always makes everyone around him giggle. Jace is definitely a Momma's boy and loves to give me hugs and crawl into my lap when he is tired or just needs a break from a hard day of playing. I know that as soon as his father gets home this will all change so I am enjoying every moment I can while I can.

So on to his Doctors appointment. First let me explain that everyone thinks that Jace is older than he is simply because he is so tall, to me however, he is my baby and I know that he is big but I guess I just didn't see it, until today. Dr. M's first question to me is, "He is only 15 months?" I should have know then....Here are Jace's 15.5 month stats:

Weight: 28 pounds (90%)
Height: 34.5 inches (60% for a 2 year old)

Yes that is right he is completely off the charts for a 15 month old, in fact he is not even on the chart for a 18 month old. He is in the 60 percentile for a 2 year old!!!!!! He is barely 1!!! Dr. M measured him 4 times because he couldn't believe it. I guess that is what happens when you mix a 5'10 Mom with a 6'3 Dad, you get one HUGE boy!!!!!

One Fun Park Equals Two Tired Kids...

Grammie and I took the kids to the local park, they had a blast! Both ran their little hearts out, well Elizabeth did her skip/run. Jace had so much fun on the toddler play set, he loved the tunnel and to climb on whatever he could and Elizabeth like always loved the slides and this park had plenty for her to choice from. It really amazes me that she has no fear of heights at all, she doesn't even hesitate going up on the highest ladder and coming down a slide that I know would have terrified me. She is her fathers daughter....

The Beach!

Grammie lives three blocks from this great beach right on the Chesapeake Bay. It is netted off so that know marine life can get in and is on a sand bar so it isn't deep at all. The kids had a blast playing in the water and sand. Elizabeth is definitely my little fish and barely came out of the water, even Jace warmed up to the water and loved to try to drink it (YUCK).

Angela and the Swimming Pool

While in Maryland Elizabeth and I met up with one of my favorite cousins, Dawn and her daughter Angela (Ang was the flower girl at our wedding). Lynnie thought it would be a great idea to take Elizabeth swimming so we had a wonderful afternoon of watching Angela and Elizabeth and catching up on everything that has been going on in our crazy lives!

Grammie's!!!!!!!

After not going home for over seven months I decided that we were going to spend some quality time in good ole Maryland. So I pack up the trusty van and headed north for a relaxing two week adventure! We had such a good time with Grammie, Uncle Adam and Aunt Lynnie! It was definitely hard to come home....Thanks for the great vacation can't wait to do it again (hopefully next time with Josh).

Good Friends Are Hard to Find

My closest friend Sarah and her family were on vacation in Mrytle Beach a couple of weeks ago and had an extra room, so I packed up the kids and made the two and a half hour trip for a quick visit. The kids had a blast and it was so great to be able to actually have a conversation with Sarah, who I don't get a chance to see very often. Her little boy Jeremiah, and Elizabeth are seven months apart so they had fun playing in the sand (Jeremiah didn't want anything to do with the ocean) and the great water park under the hotel. Elizabeth on the other hand would have been in the ocean the whole time if I would have let her, she LOVED it! Jace like the sprinkler at the water park he thought it was funny to get sprayed in the face....
